Local train services in the capital region were disrupted while long distance train services faced delay on Sunday due to electric circuit fault, said Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (Helsingin seudun liikenne – HSL) and national railway operator VR.
The glitch detected near Tikkurila in Vantaa in the early morning resulting cancellations of many local trains in the capital region and delays of long-distance trains.
The fault has been fixed and train services started to return to normal in the afternoon at about 2:00pm.
I, P and K trains resumed normal operation again and serve all stations, said HSL in a press release, adding that delays and cancellations are still possible.
Earlier on the day, HSL said that I and P trains were running between Helsinki- Myyrmäki, Helsinki Airport- Hiekkaharju and K trains were running Helsinki-Tapanila-Helsinki.
Only R and Z trains were running between Kerava and Tikkurila. R and Z trains stopped at all stations along their routes but there were delays and cancellations.
There were no train services to Puistola, Koivukylä, Rekola, Korso and Savio stations.
