Flight operation resumes at Kuopio Airport after renovation

Flights operation at Kuopio Airport will resume on Wednesday after renovation works, said country´s airports operator Finavia in a press release on Tuesday.

The flights operation at the airport remained suspended from 24 June to 6 August due to the renovation.

Finavia has completed the runway and taxiway renovation of the Kuopio Airport at a cost of about EUR 20 million.

Finavia has extensively renovated the airport area for three summers in a row.

During the summer 2024 renovation, the asphalting of the runway was redone, the taxiways were widened and resurfaced and the airport lighting system was modernised.

"Over the past three years, Finavia has made significant investments in the development of Kuopio Airport's air traffic areas. Thanks to the good planning work, the project was completed within the original budget and schedule," said Mari Nurminen, Finavia's Vice President responsible for Central and Eastern Finland airports.
