Foreign tourist inflow rises by 12% in July

The number of nights spent by non-resident tourists increased by 12 per cent from the year before, according to Statistics Finland.

The highest numbers of foreign visitors came from Sweden, Germany and the United States.

According to the preliminary data, 3.23 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation establishments in July 2024.

The number of nights spent by resident tourists was 2.57 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 0.66 million.

The total number of overnight stays was on level with the previous year.

The number of overnight stays by resident tourists went down by three per cent from the previous year in July 2024.

Most overnight stays were recorded in Uusimaa, where the number of overnight stays by non-resident tourists grew by 22 per cent from the year before.

The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 62 per cent, which was almost on level with July 2023.

The average price of a hotel room was EUR 120, which is EUR four more than in the previous year.

On average, hotel rooms were most expensive in South Savo, EUR 170, due to the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
