Foreign tourist inflow rises by 11% in August

About 2.32 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation establishments in August 2024, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of nights spent by resident tourists was 1.65 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 0.67 million.

The total number of overnight stays was on level with the previous year.

The number of overnight stays by resident tourists went down by three per cent compared to the stipulated month of the previous year.

The number of nights spent by non-resident tourists increased by 11 per cent from the year before.

The highest numbers of foreign visitors came from Germany, Sweden and the United States.

Most overnight stays were recorded in Uusimaa, where the number of overnight stays grew by eight per cent from the year before.

The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 59 per cent, which was almost on level with August 2023. In Helsinki, the occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 74 per cent.

The average price of a hotel room was EUR 116, which is almost on level with one year earlier.
