Number of passenger train trips drops by 10% in Q3

A total of 18,7 million passengers travelled by rail in July-September period of 2024, which was 10 per cent less than in the same quarter of last year, according to Statistics Finland.

Freight transported by rail was 7,3 million tons, which was 18 per cent more than in the third quarter of 2023.

Number of passenger kilometres in railway traffic decreased by one per cent in the third quarter of 2024.

Tonne kilometres in rail freight increased by 21 per cent compared to corresponding quarter of 2023.
