The Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (Helsingin seudun liikenne – HSL) is piloting contactless payment on the Suomenlinna ferry and at Metro stations, said HSL in a press release on Thursday.
Passengers can use contactless payment to buy adult single tickets by selecting zone and then showing debit or credit card to the card reader.
The card will be considered as ticket and the passenger needs to show the card to the ticket inspector when requested.
During the pilot, the ticket allows the passengers to change to trams, the Metro, commuter trains, and orange trunk route buses.
The payment card, however, will not allow the passengers to change to blue buses.
