Foreign tourist influx rises, local tourist drops in Finland in 2024

A total of 22.7 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation establishments in Finland in 2024 according to Statistics Finland.

The number of nights spent by resident tourists was 16.3 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 6.4 million.

The total number of overnight stays was almost on level with the year before.

The number of overnight stays of resident tourists fell by five per cent in 2024 but the number of nights spent by non-resident tourists went up by 11 per cent from the year before.

Compared to the previous year, overnight stays increased particularly in Uusimaa, where seven per cent more overnight stays were recorded in 2024.

The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 53 per cent, which is on level with 2023.

The average price of a hotel room was EUR 123, which is 4 EUR more than in the previous year.
