Road traffic in the country is yet to reflect the beginning of winter vacation, reported the Finnish language news outlet Savon Sanomat.

The national traffic centre in Tampere on Sunday evening said there was no traffic congestion on the main and minor roads.

The only traffic congestion reported was along the harbour of the coastal city of Turku.

According to the Oulu police, plenty of skiing holidaymakers moved along the Koillismaa roads on Sunday. The police, however, said the traffic progressed smoothly.

The Met Office meanwhile has forecast that the week ahead will be chilly. Weather conditions in the southern part of the country are expected to be frigid, with the temperature dropping to minus 5 to minus 15 degrees Celsius.

In the north, the temperature would fluctuate between minus 10 and minus 20 degrees Celsius, while in some places it might plunge to minus 30 degrees Celsius.

However, sunshine is expected in some parts of the country.
