Passengers in the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards voted Helsinki as the Best Airport in Northern Europe and the 16th in the world.
The results were announced at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday, said a Finavia press release.
Singapore’s Changi has been ranked the best airport across the world, followed by Incheon Airport in South Korea, Okyo Haneda, Hong Kong and Doha Hamad.
“It has been an honour to receive this award from the passengers around the world. It is the best way to verify that our hard work towards enhancing customer experience in the Helsinki Airport is paying off. At the same time, I want to warmly thank our Finavia personnel and all our partners here in the Helsinki Airport; without their contribution, this result could not have been possible,” said Helsinki Airport Director Ville Haapasaari at Finavia.
The SKYTRAX World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted by customers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey being conducted every year since 1999.
The awards are widely regarded as the quality benchmarks of airports, as the survey assesses the quality of customer services and the facilities across 550 airports.
Widely known as the Passengers’ Choice Awards, the survey and the awards are free of any airport’s control or input, and represent an impartial benchmark of service quality and excellence of the airports surveyed.
