Helsinki Airport will reopen its scenic terrace to people on Thursday, said the operator of the country’s airports, Finavia.
The terrace remains open from 7.00am to 10:00pm from everyday.
The terrace offers a great view of Runway 1 and 2 as well as the apron area.
It has two parts: the outside and the inside terraces. The warm interior terrace has a soft drink vending machine, a photo exhibition on the airport past and present, as well as flight arrival and departure displays.
The terrace is approximately 150 metres away from Terminal 2 on top of the blue-glass office building.
Unfortunately, there is no access yet to the scenic terrace for people who use wheel chairs.
The outside terrace remains closed in winter, but anyone can watch the planes from the inside terrace.
The outside terrace is kept open for as long as possible depending on the weather condition from early spring to late autumn. When there is ice on the outside terrace, only the inside terrace remains open.
