Many parts of the country experienced snowfall and temperature drop on Thursday night and Friday.
Puolanka, a town in Kainuu region received up to 13 centimeters of new snow, reported national broadcaster Yle.
Eight centimeters snowfall recorded at Juu in North Karelia, which was the highest snowfall during the day so far.
According to Finnish Meteorological Institute meteorologist Petteri Pyykkö, it is not uncommon for Thursday's night snowfall to be witnessed in eastern part of the country and Lapland at this time of the year.
The effects of the snowfall and cold temperature also affected traffic in Eastern Finland as dams collapsed.
Due to the bad weather, many long-distance motorists in Central Ostrobothnia switched back to winter tires.
So far, serious accidents have been avoided despite the bad road conditions.
