Wet July sets new record

The first week of July was in some places the rainiest week of July recorded in history, reported national broadcaster yle.
The water measured in Lappeenranta by Sunday morning had reached almost 85 millimeters. This figure recorded in Lappeenranta is more than the average for the whole of July.
Heavy downpour has been experienced in for instance, in Helsinki, Porvoo and Kuusamo.
Meteorologist Kerttu Kotakorpi pointed out that it could easily pour 30 milimetres in one heavy downpour. Met Office statistics indicate that the average rain in July is 60-80 milimetres.
According to the forecast, rains will subside after Monday but cool weather will continue to reign.
