Heatwave to intensify this week

Tropical nights are forecast for the rest of the week with temperature not falling below 20 degrees Celsius, according to national broadcaster Yle.

The hot conditions are expected to continue until the end of July, and the 30 degrees Celsius mark will probably be broken on Thursday.

On the other hand, rain and thunderstorms are forecast in southwestern part of the country and in the west coast on Tuesday. Temperature may drop to less than 20 degrees Celsius in some places due to rain showers.

In Lapland, the heat wave will continue at the start of the week. On Wednesday, however, the weather will cool and the rain showers will move across Lapland heading towards the east. The cool weather will, however, not last for long and on Friday the heatwave is forecast to return.
