White Xmas forecast in most parts of the country

Most parts of the country is likely to be covered in snow during Christmas, according to the forecast of local news outlet MTV news.

Snowfall from the west on Saturday of the country is forecast to bring dense precipitation in Oulu region and Northern Karelia bringing accumulation of snow of up to 15 centimetres. In the interior, the snow will accumulate to 10 centimetres and some centimetres in the south coast, said MTV meteorologist Liisa Rintaniemi,

In the southwest, the precipitation will be mainly in form of rain.

On Christmas Eve, snowfall will give way throughout the country for drier weather and falling temperatures. During the Christmas Eve, motorists driving from Helsinki metropolitan area heading west and towards Oulu are expected to drive in snowy conditions, Rintaniemi said.

Snowstorm is forecast to arrive on the west coast around 9 am on Christmas Eve. At noon, snowfall will have reached Tampere and Jyväskylä area.
