Season lowest -38.2 °C temperature recorded in Lapland

The massive snowfall and cold wave, which started on Friday night continued across the country on Sunday and the temperature fell further in the Finnish Lapland.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) recorded the lowest temperature in this season minus 38.2 degrees Celsius at Savukoski, a municipality in Lapland late Sunday night, said FMI in a bulletin.
FMI forecast that snowfall will continue across the country in the next 24 hours and the weather will become colder.
Strong wind likely to blow and driving condition will deteriorate further all over the country.
Earlier on Saturday evening, mercury dropped to minus 34.4 degrees Celsius at Savukoski.
