The mild weather forecast at the start of the week is unlikely to significantly melt the ice rock along the sea side, according to Met Office meteorologist Niko Tollman.
The snow cover on top of the ice layer may, however, turn slushy due to rains.
As a result, walking on foot or skiing may become difficult.
The Coast Guard has warned the public to be cautious since the ice condition may deteriorate abruptly.
For instance, the wash from the ships nearing the canals can melt and move ice.
