The Helsinki Rescue Department has warned the outdoor activity aficionados against the sea ice condition, especially in the south, reported the MTV news.
In the advisory, Taisto Hakala, head of communications at the Helsinki Rescue Department, said the resistance of the sea ice, for instance on the pathways over the ice, is very difficult to estimate.
Samu Hiljanen from the Turku Maritime Rescue has warned that the ice may quickly weaken as the sun warms up, meaning the ice which may seem strong in the morning may become thin in the afternoon.
