Snowstorm forecast to hamper road conditions

Motorists in southern part of the country have been warned to take caution due to the impending snowstorm and strong winds, reported national broadcaster Yle.

Strong winds and large amounts of snow is forecast to hit southern Finland on Thursday morning.

Snowfall will begin in the south coast on Wednesday evening. "15-20 metres of snow is forecast for the whole south coast," said Yle meteorologist Joonas Koskela adding that snow will have already risen to 10 centimetres by the morning rush hour.

The Finnish Meteorologist Institute (FMI) has also warned of poor driving conditions in the southern part of the country as of the early morning hours of Thursday.

Snowfall is also forecast in the east and south-eastern parts of the country on Thursday evening,however,snow storm will have subsided by evening.

Ordinary wintering weather is forecast on Friday.
