Mercury goes to minus 35.6 °C in Lapland

The ongoing cold spell is likely to continue across the country few more days, according to Finnish Meteorological Institute.
The temperature fell to minus 35.6 degrees Celsius in Muonio in Lapland late Sunday night at 11:40pm, which was the lowest temperature in this winter.
The temperature in Enontekiö recorded at 33. 4 ° C, Ylitornio minus 34.1 ° C , Sodankylä minus 32.6 °C and Kittilä minus 31.9° C.
Earlier, the season´s lowest temperature was recorded minus 32.2 degrees Celsius in Salla on January 3.
The northern part of the country already experiencing severe cold weather from beginning of the last weekend and the temperature is likely to drop further in the coming days.
Temperatures in southern and central parts of the country may also fall to minus 12 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
