Strong winds are forecast in the evening hours and night, according to national broadcaster Yle.

Strong winds of up to 20 metres per second are forecast to hit some land areas, said Yle meteorologist Kerttu Kotakorpi.

Wind warnings has been issued from South Ostrobothnia to South Karelia. Winds may also exceed storm readings in south coast and Ostrobothnia coastal areas, said Kotakorpi.

Strong Gulf of Finland winds may also be felt in the maritime traffic between Estonia and Finland. For instance, in Emäsalo wind rose up to 25 metres per second in the evening.

However, the winds are expected to weaken by Sunday morning.
