The Iraqi parliament on Wednesday passed a draft requesting the federal government to ban electronic games that incite violence for their negative impact on the Iraqi society.

The parliament resolution banned what it considered most addictive online video games such as PUBG, Fortnite and Blue Whale, as they are threatening social, moral and educational security," a parliament statement said.

These games have a negative impact on children, youths and students, specifically regarding their education, the statement added.

Iraqi media reports recently said a number of Iraqi provinces, including the capital Baghdad, have witnessed many cases of divorce because of the wide spread of the PUBG game among Iraqis.

Meanwhile, several Iraqi religious leaders, including the prominent Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, also warned Iraqi people to be wary of getting addicted to PUBG which turned its players aggressive.
