Four people were shot and wounded and two others arrested at a rally celebrating the Toronto Raptors' first NBA championship on Monday, said local police.
Numerous Raptors fans ran from the shooting in the City Hall square which was packed with tens of thousands of people. Earlier on Monday, over one million fans packed downtown Toronto for a parade, leading to safety concerns amid overcrowding.
Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said officers had recovered two firearms.
During a speech from one of the team owners, rally organizers interrupted proceedings to alert the crowd to an emergency and asked for calm.
