The Israel Airports Authority said on Wednesday that unexplained disruptions in satellite signals from the Global Positioning System (GPS) have been experienced in the country's airspace over the past weeks.

The Airports Authority said in a statement that the disruptions occur during departures and landings.

"As a result of the disturbances, changes were made to some of the entry procedures for landing, based on safe and professional processes in daily use around the world and in Israel in particular," the statement added.

The cause of the problem is still unclear, but according to the Airport Authority, it does not pose danger to incoming and outgoing flights.

The announcement came a day after the International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations issued a safety warning that "many" pilots had reported losing the GPS signals near the Ben Gurion Airport, Israel's international airport outside Tel Aviv.
