China's national observatory on Saturday continued a yellow alert for high temperatures in the country's central, southern and eastern regions.

Parts of Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong provinces and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region may see maximum temperature above 35 degree Celsius Sunday, said the National Meteorological Center.

Temperatures in parts of Hunan, Jiangxi and Guangdong may exceed 37 degrees Celsius.

The center suggested people avoid outdoor activities in the afternoon while outdoor workers should take protective measures to prevent too much exposure to the sun.

The safety of power equipment needs to be closely monitored as an electric overload might trigger fire disasters, it warned.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
