Egypt's top Court of Cassation upheld on Wednesday a previous court ruling that sentenced six policemen to three years in prison for beating a detainee to death, state-run Al-Ahram news website reported.
The court found the six policemen, three officers and three non-commissioned officers, guilty of beating the detainee to death in 2016 at a police station in Giza Province near the capital Cairo.
The Court of Cassation rejected the policemen's appeals, saying its ruling on Wednesday is final and unappealable.
Similar incidents in Egypt triggered criticism by human rights groups, while the Egyptian Ministry of Interior says they are rare individual cases whose perpetrators are punished according to the law.
