At least 16 passengers including five children were killed and 60 other injured in a head on collision between two intercity trains under Kasba upazila at Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh, police, local media and eye witnesses said.
The accident took place when a Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita express coming from Chattogram collided head on with Chattogram-bound Udayan Express at about 3:00 am local time.
The injured were taken to hospital and conditions of 13 of them were critical, hospital sources said.
The authority formed five separate committees to investigate into the accident.
The accident might have taken place owing to the negligence of the Loco master of Turna, railway sources said.
