Thousands of protesters rallied on Tuesday evening in front of the San Francisco Federal Building to press for the removal of U.S. President Donald Trump, on the eve of a full House vote on two articles of impeachment against the president.

A heavy police presence was deployed along the protest route, with organizers saying more than 2,200 people turned out for the event to demand U.S. Congress vote to impeach Trump for alleged abuse of power and other "impeachable offenses."

After the rally outside the Federal Building in the downtown area, the protesters marched through the city center along Market Street to the office of California politician Senator Dianne Feinstein, who was San Francisco's mayor from 1978 to 1988.

Robert Holgate, who runs a local design business, believes Trump is guilty of obstructing justice as he refused to show up in front of the House Judiciary Committee.
