13 killed following stampede in Kenyan school

At least 13 pupils were killed and 39 others injured on Monday following a stampede at a school in Kakamega County in western Kenya, the police said.

David Kabena, Kakamega divisional police commander, said the stampede happened at Kakamega Primary School, a three-story building, while pupils were getting out of classes. They were going home.

Five pupils are in critical condition at the hospital.

The cause of the stampede is not known yet.
