Palestine on Friday said that it has not received any financial aid from the U.S. administration, noting that contacts between the two sides are still suspended.

Ibrahim Melhem, spokesman of the Palestinian government, said in a press conference held in Ramallah city that "we have not received any money from the current U.S. administration and there are no relations or contacts with it."

Melhem's remarks came as a response to U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman's remark on Thursday that his country will provide 5 million U.S. dollars to Palestinian hospitals and families amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

In late 2017, the Palestinian Authority has broken off its political contacts with the U.S. administration after a decision was taken by President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Since then, U.S. President Donald Trump suspended all U.S. aids to the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
