Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has received a congratulatory message from Chairman of Russia's Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky on the first anniversary of Kim's visit to Russia, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Wednesday.

Kim's visit to Russia last April "had an impact on the political stability of the Asia-Pacific region, and will remain forever in the annals of Russian-DPRK relations," said Zhirinovsky in the message.

"Your meeting with Russian President V. Putin during your visit consolidated the firm positions held by you and Putin as companions standing on an equal footing in discussing and deciding important issues regarding security of the region and the world," KCNA quoted Zhirinovsky as saying.

Zhirinovsky also wished Kim good health and success in accomplishing plans for the development of the DPRK, the report added.

At the invitation of Putin, Kim kicked off a visit to Russia on April 24, 2019 and held a summit with Putin in Vladivostok on the next day, the first meeting between the two leaders since Kim became top leader of the DPRK in late 2011.
