A team in the Libyan capital Tripoli on Sunday said that four unidentified bodies have been found in southern Tripoli, where the UN-backed government and the eastern-based army fought for more than a year.
Lutfi al-Misrati, head of the team of search and identification of bodies, told Xinhua that "four unidentified bodies have been found at Kallat al-Farjan area in southern Tripoli, while the team was searching the area in preparation for the return of displaced people to their homes."
"The search continues in more areas during these days," al-Misrati added, warning people not to return to southern Tripoli yet due to landmines.
The eastern-based army and the UN-backed government had been engaged in a vicious war for over a year over control of Tripoli before the UN-backed government's forces took over all of western Libya following withdrawal of the eastern-based army.
Hundreds were killed and injured in the fighting and more than 150,000 others were displaced away from their homes.
The UN Support Mission in Libya condemned use of improvised explosive devises against civilians in southern Tripoli, calling on all individuals to "seek information and heed security advice to stay away from areas that have not been declared safe to enter."
