The International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Saturday said that 93 illegal immigrants were rescued off the Libyan coast, while six others died, reported Xinhua.
"Last night, 93 migrants were returned to Khums, Libya, by the coast guard. Among them was a woman who gave birth on the rubber dinghy," IOM tweeted.
"Migrants reported to IOM staff that six people have died along the journey. They were all released after disembarkation," IOM said.
Hundreds of illegal migrations, including women and children, were rescued and brought back to Libya over the past few days, according to IOM.
Due to the state of chaos and insecurity in the country since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, thousands of illegal immigrants choose to cross the Mediterranean sea toward Europe from Libya.
Shelters in Libya are overcrowded with thousands of illegal immigrants, who are either rescued at sea or arrested by the authorities, despite international calls to close those centers.
