Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said on Tuesday issued a royal decree to pardon 433 prisoners ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday, reported Xinhua.

The pardoned prisoners include 217 foreigners, said a statement released by the Royal Oman Police.

"This royal pardon came on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, taking into account the families of these prisoners," the statement added.

This year, the Omanis will observe Eid al-Adha, or Feast of Sacrifice, on July 31.

On April 8, the Omani sultan pardoned 599 prisoners, including 336 foreigners.
