Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian man in the West Bank on Monday night after he allegedly hurled firebombs at them, Israel's army and Palestinian media said, reported Xinhua.

The incident took place near a military post outside the settlement of Einav, south of Jenin city.

A spokesperson with the Israeli military said in a statement that while the troops were on "routine activity" in the area, three Palestinians hurled Molotov cocktails at them.

"The troops responded with fire and a hit to one of the assailants was identified," the statement read. Palestinian media reported that the man died of his wounds.

A manhunt was launched to locate the other two suspects.

No Israeli injuries were reported.

Earlier on Monday, a Palestinian was arrested at a junction in Gush Etzion, a settlement bloc south of Jerusalem, after he attempted to stab a policeman and a solider, according to the Israeli police.
