Three people were killed and at least three others injured on Saturday evening after a person opened fire in a bowling alley in Rockford, a city about 90-minute-drive northwest of Chicago in U.S. Midwest state of Illinois, reported Xinhua.
At least two teenagers were among those shot, Rockford Police Chief Dan O'Shea said at a news briefing. A suspect has been in custody.
The ages and conditions of the surviving victims were not immediately known, nor were the ages of the victims who were killed, local media reported.
The suspect is in custody, the Rockford Police Department tweeted, urging people to stay away from the area near the bowling alley.
The police believe the shooting was a random attack. Some people were shot outside the building and some inside, O'Shea told local media.
The shooting took place shortly before 7 p.m. Central Time on Saturday (0100 GMT on Sunday). The suspect was still in the building when the police came. "No officers fired their weapons we know of at this point," O'Shea said.
The investigation is underway.
