Canadian policeman killed by fleeing vehicle

A policeman was killed by a vehicle fleeing a traffic stop in Calgary, Canada on New Year's Eve, reported Xinhua, quoting the local police on Friday.

The incident occurred around 10:50 p.m. local time on Thursday.

"There is a massive effort underway to locate and bring to justice those responsible for taking the life of one of our members," the Calgary Police said in a statement on Friday.

Dozens of sworn and civilian members are working around the clock tracking down each and every lead and these efforts will not stop," added the police.
