The number of passengers passing through Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport, on flights between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reached 66,763 in December 2020, according to a report released by the Israel Airports Authority on Thursday, reported Xinhua.

This is the first month in which commercial passenger flights have been operated between the two countries, following the peace agreement signed by the two in mid-September.

This figure, which reached almost a third of the total passenger traffic at Ben Gurion Airport in December, placed the UAE at the top of the monthly countries list in terms of passenger traffic to and from Israel.

Most of the passengers in the new route were Israeli tourists traveling to the Arab country.
