11 including 5 militants killed in Afghanistan gun battle

At least 11 Afghans including six security personnel and five Taliban insurgents have been confirmed dead in a clash erupted in Imam Sahib district of the northern Kunduz province on Monday, provincial government spokesman Esmatullah Muradi said, reported Xinhua.

The clash, according to the official, flared up after a group of Taliban militants attacked security checkpoints in Makhmalkocha village of the restive district Monday morning, triggering a gun battle which lasted for a couple of hours and the militants fled away after leaving five bodies behind.

Six security personnel were also killed in the fighting, the official said.

Three more security personnel and five militants had been injured in the firefight, the official said, adding that the fighting is over and the insurgents fled away.
