Turkey's daily COVID-19 cases exceed 21,000, 55.5% of Israelis vaccinated

Turkey on Friday reported 21,030 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 2,971,633. Meanwhile, the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in Israel has reached nearly 5.16 million, or 55.5 percent of its total population, reported Xinhua.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 87 to 29,864, while the total recoveries climbed to 2,788,757 after 18,119 more recovered in the last 24 hours.

A total of 1,189 new COVID-19 cases were reported by Israel's Ministry of Health on Friday, increasing the nationwide caseload to 826,609.

The death toll from the virus reached 6,073 with four new fatalities, while the total recoveries in Israel rose to 800,728 with 3,405 newly recovered cases.

In Iran, the health ministry reported 7,620 new infections, raising the overall count to 1,786,265, while the toll death toll of the pandemic rose to 61,649.

Meanwhile, 1,528,694 COVID-19 patients have recovered or been released from Iranian hospitals, but 3,879 others remain in critical condition in intensive care units.

The number of COVID-19 patients with severe respiratory distress transferred to hospital emergency departments has increased by 35 percent, Alireza Zali, head of the headquarters fighting the pandemic in the Greater Tehran area, warned on Friday.

The Iraqi Ministry of Health reported on Friday 5,258 new coronavirus cases, raising the total nationwide infections to 784,716.

The country also reported 41 new deaths, raising the death toll from the infectious virus to 13,937, while the total recoveries in Iraq climbed by 4,237 to 706,904.

Lebanon registered on Friday 3,588 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 434,322, the Health Ministry said.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the virus went up by 55 to 5,664.

The Kuwaiti Health Ministry reported on Friday 1,519 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 216,586.

The ministry also announced eight more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,210, while the tally of recoveries rose by 1,273 to 200,822. A total of 14,554 coronavirus patients are receiving treatment, including 225 in ICU.

In Qatar, the health ministry on Friday announced 497 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the Gulf state to 172,697.

Meanwhile, 315 more recovered from the virus, bringing the overall recoveries to 159,787, while the fatalities increased by one to 271.

Morocco registered 444 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the total tally in the North African country to 491,019, the health ministry said in a statement.

The total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in Morocco increased to 478,386 after 507 more were added.

The death toll rose to 8,755 after seven new fatalities were added during the last 24 hours, while 401 people are in intensive care units in the country.
