Indonesia raises alert level of volcano in Bali to highest

Indonesian volcanology agency raised alert status of Gunung Agung volcano in Bali resort island to the highest on Friday, according to an official of disaster management agency.
Evacuation zone was extended to 9 kilometer from the crater from 7.5 kilometer, and 12 kilometers for the areas in the north, northeast, southeast, south and southwest, spokesman of national disaster management agency Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said.
"With the extension the number of displaced person is projected to rise," Sutopo told Xinhua in a text message.
Nearly 10,000 villagers have escaped the no-go zone as volcanic and tectonic tremors more intensified on Friday, according to the spokesman.
