A passenger has died during a flight from Cologne-Bonn Airport to the Egyptian resort of Hurghada, reported dpa.
There was a medical emergency on the flight and a male passenger had immediate medical attention from the cabin crew on board, a Eurowings spokesman said on Sunday.
The crew decided to stop over at the next possible airport, the company spokesman said. At Klagenfurt airport, the passenger immediately received emergency medical care, he said.
"Unfortunately, the passenger passed away on the spot. Eurowings extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the family," the spokesperson said.
He did not want to comment on further details in consideration of privacy. According to the Bild newspaper, the passenger was 71 years old and came from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
On board the Airbus A320 were 178 passengers as well as four members of the cabin crew and two members of the cockpit crew, Eurowings said.
The aircraft with the flight number EW 5110 flew from Klagenfurt back to Cologne-Bonn Airport. The passengers were accommodated in a hotel until Sunday and took off again on Sunday morning. They landed in Hurghada in the morning.
