Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian man on Monday during clashes in the West Bank city of Nablus, Israeli and Palestinian sources said, reported Xinhua.
Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that the man was identified as Jamil al-Kayyal, 31. The Palestinian Red Crescent said he was shot in the head by live fire in Ras al-Ain area in Nablus, according to the report.
Israel's state-owned Kan TV news reported that paramilitary Border Police and army troops entered Nablus overnight to arrest a suspect. An improvised Carlo submachine gun was found in the suspect's house, according to the report.
When the forces concluded the operation and left the scene, explosive devices were hurled at them by rioters who endangered the lives of the troops, Kan reported. In response, the forces opened fire toward the rioter.
The Border Police did not immediately comment on the incident.
No casualties or injuries were reported among the Israeli troops.
Armed Israeli forces frequently hold night raids on Palestinian homes, claiming to search for wanted men and illegal weapons. The raids often trigger clashes.
Israel captured the West Bank in a 1967 war and kept controlling it ever since, despite international criticism.
