Afghan forces kill 60 militants

Up to 60 armed militants have been killed and 27 others wounded during the serious of operations conducted by Afghan security forces across the country over the past 24 hours, Afghan defense ministry said in a statement released here on Saturday.

"The security and defense forces have launched military operations in restive provinces, killing at least 60 militants including three Islamic States (IS) fighters and injuring 27 others," the statement said without mentioning the possible casualties of security forces.

The operations were carried out in 13 out of the country's 34 provinces where the insurgents were involving against security forces, the statement noted.

According to the statement, Afghan forces also have destroyed huge quantity of arms and ammunition during the operations.
