A blast triggered by an unexploded device has killed a child and injured another in Police District 1 of Ghazni city, the capital of eastern Ghazni province on Friday, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday, reported Xinhua.
Quoting a police official Sayed Ishaq Saleh, the news agency added that the blast was due to an unexploded device left over from the wars and went off when the children were playing with it.
This is the second blast of unexploded ordnances left over from the past wars that claims the lives of innocent children over the past couple of days.
A similar incident in Balablock district of the western Farah province on Tuesday claimed one life and injured two more children.
Unexploded ordnances and devices including anti-personnel mines left from wars in Afghanistan often claim civilian lives.
Meanwhile, at least three people sustained injuries due to a blast that rocked Mazar-i-Sharif city, the capital of northern Balkh province, on Thursday, an official said.
On condition of anonymity, the official said the victims are "civilian employees" of 209 Al-Fath Corps of the national army, and all the injured persons had been taken to a military hospital.
In the meantime, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri said the blast targeted a mini-bus of civilian employees of the corps in the morning rush hour.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility.
