At least three civilians were killed and one other abducted when unknown gunmen raided a village in Nigeria's northeast state of Adamawa on Wednesday, an official said Thursday, reported Xinhua.

In a statement released in Yola, the state capital, Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa, said the gunmen shot dead in the attack a cleric and two of his sons while took away his 13-year-old daughter from their home at the village of Njairi in the Mubi area of the state on Wednesday.

The governor condemned the attack, and described it as shocking and barbaric.

"The perpetrators of this heinous act must be brought to justice, " Fintiri said, urging security agencies to scale up intelligence and fish out attackers.
