A Palestinian was killed and three others injured on Wednesday during clashes with the Israeli soldiers in Al-Aroub refugee camp north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, Palestinian health authorities and eyewitnesses said, reported Xinhua.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that Osama Adawi, 18, was killed after he was shot by an Israeli soldier during clashes broke out in the afternoon, adding three other Palestinian demonstrators sustained gunshot injuries in their legs.

Palestinian eyewitnesses said that an Israeli army force stormed the refugee camp to arrest stone-throwing demonstrators, adding that clashes broke out between dozens of stone-throwers and the Israeli soldiers.

The witnesses added that the soldiers fired teargas canisters, rubber bullets, and live ammunition to disperse the stone throwers, adding that Adawi was killed and three others were injured.

Tension in the West Bank has been mounting since March after the Israeli army intensified its military actions and operations against Palestinian protesters.

More than 100 Palestinians have been killed since early January by Israeli soldiers, including children and women, according to official Palestinian statistics. Meanwhile, since March, 18 Israelis have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians in Israel.

In return, Israel carried out manhunts in the cities of Nablus and Jenin in the northern West Bank for Palestinian suspects involved in attacks against Israel.

In the 1967 Middle East war, Israel occupied the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem which are claimed by the Palestinians, and has controlled the areas ever since. The Palestinians want to establish an independent state in these territories.
