Myanmar declares martial law in 3 more towns

Myanmar's State Administration Council on Wednesday declared martial law in three towns in Sagaing region in the country, reported Xinhua.

According to the council's orders, the three towns are Shwebo, Wetlet and Ayadaw, which are the areas of the Northwestern Command.

The council gave the administrative and judicial power to the Commander of the Northwestern Command to perform security, and maintain the rule of law and tranquility, the council said in a statement.

Earlier this month, the council imposed martial law in 37 towns of four regions and four states in the country.

On Feb. 1, the Southeast Asian country also extended the state of emergency for six more months, citing that as unusual circumstances are happening in the country.
