Israeli soldiers shot and killed a member of the Fatah Movement after he opened fire at them in the occupied West Bank on Monday, according to Palestinian and Israeli sources, reported Xinhua.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement that Bilal Qaddah, 33, from the village of Shuqba, was killed by Israeli soldiers near Deir Nidham village northwest of Ramallah city, without revealing more details.
The Fatah movement published a photo of Qaddah and confirmed his identity and death.
The Israeli army said in a statement that the man arrived by car at a military post and "acted suspiciously." The troops at the site wanted to question him before he stepped out of his vehicle, hurled a grenade and fired shots at the soldiers.
"The soldiers responded with live fire and neutralized the assailant," the military said, adding the troops found an improvised "Carlo" gun on his body.
No Israelis were reported injured in the incident.
Since January, 26 people, most of them Israelis, have been killed in a series of attacks carried out by Palestinians, and over 190 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers, according to official figures.
