Volcano erupts on southwestern Japan island

A volcano has erupted on a southwestern Japanese island, the country's weather agency said on early Sunday, reported Xinhua.
Japan's Meteorological Agency said a volcanic eruption occurred at 00:22 local time on the island of Suwanosejima in the southwestern Japanese prefecture of Kagoshima.
The weather agency urged residents to stay alert.
