Ex Pakistan PM, wife jailed for illegal marriage

A Pakistani court sentenced the country's former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife to a seven-year imprisonment after voiding their marriage, reported British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The court ruled that Khan's 2018 marriage with Bushra Bibi, a faith healer, was un-Islamic and illegal.

Earlier on January 31, an accountability court of Pakistan sentenced the country's former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife to a 14-year imprisonment in the gift case under the charges of taking and selling gifts from the Toshakhana (treasure-house) illegally,

Pakistan's former cricket captain-turned-politician was ousted as prime minister in 2022.
